Derek will be one year old on April 18, 2006. In the last week he has begun crawling up a storm. We watched him yesterday. There seemed to be a key to getting him to crawl...find something he was not supposed to have, and he made a beeline for it! It was pretty cute! It appears he has also learned to read. While the rest of us talked and laughed at Josh's 16th birthday party, Derek found the shelf with all the magazines on it. He was perfectly content lying down and reading about Health and Nutrition. I wonder how he learned to read upside down?

Someone Blossomed In The Last Week
Derek will be one year old on April 18, 2006. In the last week he has begun crawling up a storm. We watched him yesterday. He was drawn to health and nutrition because it's all we talk about at home. We're all about health and nutrition here! :) It's fun to watch him crawl and see how fast he can go. I love it!
Crawling and reading... sports and academics. It appears he is getting a head start preparing for a foodball scholarship to a big 10 university. Hmm... Or is he preparing for a full ride dance scholorship at Julliard?
One thing always strikes me about Derek is how observant he is.
Our world is so upside down at times, perhaps he is just looking at it the right way up.

hi tom.......I think derek is preparing for whatever life deals him.....maybe it will be sports..or academics....dance..music..we just don't know.....what I do know is that derek "looks" at life..takes it all in....and someday he will let us all know what his own special gift is.......for now..I know his gift to me is watching him grow and become himself.....
hi joe........laughing..perhaps he is...kara used to hang upside down on a chair...she was totally comfortable that way...she must have seen something the rest of us didn't.....you are right..derek has such a direct gaze....you just know he is seeing life and taking it all in.....
